The Voice of Public Education in Western Ohio

Western Ohio Education Association is one of ten District Associations that make up the Ohio Education Association. The territory of WOEA is comprised of the following counties:  Auglaize, Darke, Greene, Mercer, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby.

The Board of Directors consists of a President, Vice-President, Secretary,Treasurer, the Immediate Past-President, one representative from each of the seven WOEA Areas, the OEA Executive Committee members representing the three OEA Electoral Units within the WOEA District, any at-Large OEA Board of Directors member, any NEA Director elected from WOEA, and a representative from each of the following categories: Education Support Professionals, At-Large, Retired, Higher Education, and Students. It is the responsibility of each WOEA area representative to carry local concerns to the district and to keep local associations informed about district actions.

The members of the Board of Directors meet approximately ten times a year to put into effect the policies and directions of the Representative Assembly. The Board of Directors approves members to chair five core function committees of the Association. The Officers and Board of Directors employ an Office Manager who is responsible for the day to day operations of the Association and assists the leadership and members in carrying out their duties.

WOEA conducts one representative assembly in the spring and a Member's Forum in the fall.  Locally-elected OEA and WOEA delegates serve as delegates to the WOEA Representative Assembly.

Western OEA advances the cause of education and teaching as a profession by providing workshops for the improvement of instruction, leadership training, political action, and membership promotion.  WOEA makes funds available to local associations for workshops and leadership development.

WOEA provides an organizational link between your local association and the state and national associations.  WOEA provides timely information and member benefits through the newsletter and www.woea.org, as well as social networks, Facebook and Twitter.

We invite your ideas and suggestions and hope this site will benefit you, our members.
